Selection Guide for Molded Case Circuit Breakers

When selecting a molded case circuit breaker, consider the following factors to ensure the chosen product meets application requirements:

● Determine Rated Current and Voltage:

Rated Current: Choose the circuit breaker's rated current based on the circuit's load current and expected maximum operating current. Typically, the rated current should slightly exceed the circuit's maximum operating current to ensure normal operation under overload conditions. Ensure both the circuit breaker's rated current and the overcurrent release's rated current are not less than the calculated line current.

● Rated Voltage: Select a circuit breaker with a rated voltage that matches or exceeds the circuit's rated voltage (e.g., 220V or 380V).

● Select Circuit Breaker Poles:

Choose between four-pole, three-pole, two-pole, or single-pole circuit breakers based on installation environment conditions and the number of phases of the protected object. For single-phase circuits, opt for single-pole or two-pole breakers; for three-phase circuits, select three-pole or four-pole breakers.

● Consider Breaking Capacity:

Ensure the circuit breaker's rated short-circuit breaking capacity meets or exceeds the maximum short-circuit current that may occur in the line.

● Pay Attention to Additional Functions:

Select circuit breakers with functions such as overload protection, short-circuit protection, undervoltage protection, etc., based on specific needs to enhance circuit safety and minimize equipment and system damage from faults.

● Consider Operation Mode and Installation Requirements:

Circuit breakers come in manual operation and electric operation modes. Choose based on operational needs and environmental conditions.

During installation, consider factors like size, weight, and wiring methods to ensure easy installation at the designated location.
